David Stocking
I am the Coroner’s Services Manager for Greater Lincolnshire.
Lincolnshire Coroner’s area recently merged with the unitary Local Authorities of North and North East Lincolnshire to create the Greater Lincolnshire Coroner’s Service. We still have a way to go before we are fully integrate due to different working practices, case management systems etc and it will take a while but we will get there.
I have been in post for 3 years prior to that I was a Coroner’s Officer having retired from the Police in December 2010 and after a weekend break started my role as a Coroner’s Officer. I was Police Officer for 31 years, 12 years in Strathclyde working in various posts in Glasgow to Ayrshire and the Isle of Arran. I transferred to Lincolnshire in 1993 and covered many areas of policing retiring as a Detective Inspector in CID where I dealt with all aspects of crime.
I live in Market Rasen and have 3 grown up sons who have all now flown the nest and a 12 year old daughter who certainly keeps me on my toes.
When I am not working I enjoy just being with my partner and family. Hobbies, well I still play proper football not the walking football stuff, I also enjoy hill walking, cycling and play badminton, I’ll have a go at most sporting activities really.
I have always supported COASA and was a member of the Association when it was originally on the go. I want to help promote and advance the professional standing and the excellence in the working practices of coroners’ officers and coroner’s staff in order to enhance the service provided to bereaved people, coroners and associated professionals and I wish to work towards supporting and promoting access to national, accredited training and continuous professional development for coroner’s officers and coroner’s administrative staff.
